Proper airway management and appropriate use of ultrasound technology are crucial for the nurse anesthetist to deliver quality care. AANA Annual Meeting attendees are encouraged to attend Open Labs on ultrasound and difficult airways on Monday, Aug. 8 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 9 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The hands-on labs provide participants with practical and useful experiences. At the ultrasound lab, attendees will learn proper ultrasound probe orientation, identify structures with ultrasound guidance on models, and use ultrasound guidance to perform vascular access on models.
At the difficult airway lab attendees will learn techniques that facilitate nontraditional intubation, learn to identify the landmarks in the upper airway that are pertinent to nontraditional techniques of intubation, and demonstrate integration of theoretical instruction with hands-on application.
Preregistration for the Open Labs is not required, so attendees are able to stop in anytime during the posted hours to learn more about these important topics.
