Members Call the Shots for AANA 2011

It’s hard to believe that three years ago, plans were already in motion for AANA 2011. Venues were thoroughly scoped out, site visits were made, and with Boston emerging as the front-runner, contracts were issued and signed. Last summer marked the meeting’s final stages, with an agenda firmly in place and speakers recruited.

Such careful planning is proof positive that your Program Committee keeps its members in mind at all times. What’s more, much of the agenda comes directly from your feedback from previous meetings, ensuring that your voices are heard and your concerns addressed.

“We continue to read every member comment from each meeting that the AANA holds,” said Program Chair Daniel Vigness, CRNA, MS. “The Program Committee does try to plan future meetings based on this feedback. This year, many of the topics being presented come directly from this feedback.”

You asked, so the AANA delivers something for everyone this year. Among several new topics on the agenda are sessions devoted to current issues, the business of anesthesia, pain management, and pediatrics. “There will also be an interactive case study session with audience participation, thus allowing the opportunity to participate in the educational session,” said Vigness.

In addition to what’s new, the AANA is no longer requiring preregistration for hands-on time with Difficult Airways and Ultrasound.

In your downtime, Vigness encourages you to explore the charm and history of Boston, reconvene with old friends, and meet new people.

“The Program Committee has worked very hard to provide a stimulating educational meeting,” said Vigness. So keep that feedback coming!
