More than 3,000 CRNAs, students, and guests hit the red carpet—and demonstrated their generosity—at this year’s Party with a Purpose, held Sunday night at the Convention Center.

This year’s Party with a Purpose benefited Northwest Harvest, a statewide hunger relief agency that provides nutritious food to more than 300 food banks and 39 counties in Washington. AANA President Jim Walker, CRNA, DNP; Marie Keeley, VP Sales & Corporate Accounts from Baxter Healthcare Corporation, and Kim Nelson, Capital Campaign and Development Director, Northwest Harvest, were on hand to thank partygoers for their generosity. Each year, the AANA partners with Baxter to raise proceeds for a charitable organization in the host city of its Annual Meeting. In years past, Party with a Purpose has generated thousands of dollars and scores of donated items for previously selected charities in other cities. The 2010 party benefited Northwest Harvest, a statewide hunger relief agency that provides nutritious food to more than 300 food banks and 39 counties in Washington.

This year’s party gave the packed crowd a taste of Hollywood glamour and good times. Partygoers danced the night away as they enjoyed food and beverages, and they had the chance to have themselves photographed in movie star finery (wigs and boas) at photo booths.

Partygoers also responded generously to the request to bring a donation of cash and/or healthful non-perishable food items such as oatmeal, whole grain pastas, brown rice, canned goods, baby food or formula, infant cereal, and powdered or canned milk. Kim Nelson, Capital Campaign and Development Director, Northwest Harvest, along with AANA President Jim Walker, CRNA, DNP, and Marie Keeley, VP Sales & Corporate Accounts from Baxter Healthcare Corporation, were on hand to speak to the audience and thank them for their generosity.
